Formula One, the pinnacle of all motorsports, originally had 10 teams with two drivers for each team. Some of the more popular teams are Ferrari, McLaren, Redbull and Mercedes. Now, a new team has entered the world of Formula 1: Cadillac, with driver Sergio Pérez, or as most call him, “Checo.”
Pérez is considered a Formula 1 beast, a master of tire management, and a defensive weapon. Sergio “Checo” Pérez has raced for Sauber, McLaren, Force India/Racing Point, and Red Bull in Formula 1 and is set to drive for Cadillac in 2026. He began his F1 career with Sauber in 2011 before moving to McLaren for the 2013 season, then joined the team that evolved from Force India into Racing Point, and drove for Red Bull from 2021 to 2024. Pérez has achieved six career wins, three pole positions, 39 podiums, and 12 fastest laps across 281 Grands Prix.
Pérez is just one of the drivers for Cadillac. On the other hand, Valtteri Bottas is another upcoming Cadillac driver with a great track record. Valtteri Bottas has raced in Formula 1 for three teams: Williams (2013–2016), Mercedes (2017–2021), and Alfa Romeo (2022–2023). He is set to return to Mercedes as a reserve driver for the 2025 season. Valtteri Bottas has achieved 10 wins, 20 pole positions, and 67 podiums in his Formula 1 career, with a total of 1,797 points over 246 Grand Prix starts. He is the record holder for the most career points without a World Drivers’ Championship. Bottas will be the second driver for our new team, Cadillac.
But enough about the drivers let’s talk about the team. With Cadillac joining F1, Mercedes and Cadillac now share a commonality: they are all partnered with TWG Motorsport. As a U.S.-based company, I’m eager to see the powerhouse of a car they will create.
