The Indians held a hard fought game against the El Capitan Gauchos. The unfortunate loss ended in a 0-33 game, making their overall 8-6. Every team may come across a game which they don’t perform up to their standards. It is important that they use these games as motivation to improve and become better athletes for the future.
The game was held in Ripon’s very own Wes Stouffer Field on September 15. The Lady Indians started off with a strong start, while falling short of the touchdown zone. The Gauchos were able to capitalize on their mistakes and were the first to score. They led the game and kept the fire going.
Frustration was high as the team heard the final whistle, but they kept their heads held high. Senior, Genesis Lira stated, “ After the frustrating loss, I was looking over the game and I think we could have caught more throws and pull more flags.”. Coach Louie said, to the girls after the game, the team definitely struggled to keep up with the offense and defense of their opponents, but games like these build character and resilience.
This was the Indians last pre-season game. They will go into their league games with a strong team, their successes will override their previous mistakes. Their first league game will be an away game against the Orestimba Warriors on September 22nd.
Though the scoreboard didn’t fall in their favor, the Lady Indians walked off the field with pride and determination for their future.
