The Ripon High School Girls Varsity Golf team is off to a great start currently with a record of 3-1.
The Lady Indians are doing an amazing job at showing what they’ve got. Despite the high temperatures, the team has continued to push through and put lots of effort into this season, already attending matches as well as some tournaments.
The girls are working hard and improving on their technique as the season goes on and because of this, they had a very intense and close match against Hilmar on September 15, 2025 at the Ripon Golf Club. With warm temperatures and high spirits, the team’s collective score after the match was 163 to 157. A close match, only losing by 6.
Freshman Grace Ortmann, lowest scorer in the match with a 38 overall, says, “I did well putting and chipping as well as long irons, but I can personally improve on keeping my mind in a clear spot when I am golfing and definitely my driver.”
They had a great match, especially when it came down to their spirit and positive attitudes which

many players on the team commented on. Junior Brynn Daley, with a 44 overall in the match, says, “the team did well on coming together and playing for themselves and for their teammates. Everyone is just so encouraging and they always lift each other up.”
A highlight from this match was that the team shot their lowest score at their home course. Congratulations girls! The team has already shown what they are made of and it will most definitely be an exciting season to come. Make sure to show out and support Girls Varsity Golf at Ripon High!
