On October 21 at the Ripon Library, the Dream Catcher Choir performed a concert. There was a medley of performances covering many different genres; everything from Christian Church songs to Hip Hop and Coral, to alternative rock. The concert as a whole was phenomenal.
The Beginning of the concert was very up lifting with many different vocalists performing beautifully. All of them performed their talents well and made minimal or no mistakes.
However, there were two very unique performances that stood out from the rest. The first was the lyrical genius of 2 Shains and the back up of the Notorious D performing Back Meat Freestyle. The performance was like nothing I have ever seen (outside of the 5th quarter performance). 2 Shains spread the message of “Pray my cake get big as the Eiffel Tower so I can feed the world for 72 Hour;” a noble cause that everyone should be aware of. This young man is not just an up and coming stair in the rap game, he is also a well thought humanitarian.
The second performance that made the night electric was the second to last hip hop performance. The likes of The Notorious D and 2 Shains were joined by the OG charisma of Jay-P; together they performed Good fellas in Paris. This was definitely the club banger of 2010 that all the critics acclaimed it to be. “That shi cray!” exclaimed Turquoise Jeep Records as they instantly signed all of them the record deal of a lifetime.
In all seriousness, the group was “able to make a library full of middle aged parents to get into the song” said Pavit Dahliwal, that in itself was amazing.
The concert was definitely a success and showcased the talented students of Ripon High School. The women and men sang / rapped to there heart content and did a flawless job doing so. Kudos to the quire for putting on such a great show. Hope to see it again.
