The San Francisco Giants (17-25), dropped the series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers (23-18) in a 1-6 loss on Wednesday.
Dodgers starting pitcher, Clayton Kershaw maintained his typical outstanding performance through seven innings against the Giants to avoid a three game sweep. Kershaw did not allow a single Giants player past first base, and moved onto a 20-9 record and a 1.62 Earned Run Average against the Giants.
Dodgers catcher, Yasmani Grandal had a two run double in the first inning off of Giants pitcher, Johnny Cueto. Right fielder, Yasiel Puig’s bases loaded two run single in the sixth inning bumped the Dodger’s lead to 5-0 and put the game out of the Giants reach.
The only run that the Giants had came from third baseman, Eduardo Nunez’s first home run of the year, a solo shot off of Dodgers closer and former Giants player, Sergio Romo in the ninth inning. The Giants lost to the Dodgers, 6-1, breaking their five game winning streak.
The Giants will go on to play the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, May 19, and the Dodgers will go on to play the Miami Marlins on Thursday, May 18.
