The Ripon Indians have had a great reputation of collecting and donating canned foods for those in need. This year only 140 cans were collected to donate to Second Harvest Food Bank, while 1,600 cans were collected in 2012.
Second Harvest Food Bank is located in Manteca, and provides food for over 35,000 people each month between San Joaquin and Stanislaus county. This equals around 1 million pounds of food per month. The food is delivered to agencies to be prepared and then distributed.
Though the Indians probably did not make too much of a dent in the incoming donations this year, 2014 will hopefully be a better year.
