  1. 2018 Winter Olympics: This year, the winter games will be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea and will be from February 9th to February 25th. This year, there will be eight new medal events bringing the total amount of possible gold medals to 102.The new events were made to generate more interest in the younger audience and there will be multiple new events with mixed gender teams to help bridge the gender divide.
  2. Seven Seconds:  Seven Seconds is a new Netflix Original starring Clare-Hope Ashitey as main character KJ Harper. According to trailers and teasers released by Netflix, the Crime Drama is about what happens in Jersey City when an African American teenage boy is brutally injured by a Caucasian cop and left to die in the cold. The release date is set for February 23rd.
  3. A Wrinkle In Time: The Disney movie adaption of the classic book by Madeleine L’Engle has actress Storm Reid bringing L’Engle’s character Meg Murry to life in her adventure with her brother and her friend to find their scientist father who mysteriously disappears. With the help of three strange beings, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which, will Reid be able to find her father in space? Find out March 9th when the movie hits theaters.
  4. Krypton: This TV mini-series does not, in fact, follow DC Comics’ legendary Superman but instead his less known Grandfather, Seyg-El,  portrayed by Cameron Cuffe. Seyg-El struggles to restore the House of El’s honor after being shamed and forced into seclusion by Krypton’s other inhabitants. Now he has to fight not only for his family but for his planet. The miniseries is set to air March 11th and despite only scheduled for four episodes, creator David S. Goyer revealed he has plans for the show to last 7-8 years.
  5. Barry: While Barry is also a mini-series and a DC Comics’ character, I can assure you this show has nothing to do with The Flash. Bill Hador plays Barry, a hitman from the Midwest. This hitman isn’t as scary as you think as when he moves to L.A., he manages to get caught up in the theater scene. This hilarious comedy comes out March 25th.
  6. The Miracle Season: This tragic but inspiring movie based on a true story is based on West High School’s girls’ volleyball team and their star player, Caroline ‘ Line ‘ Found. Found suffers a tragic accident and without their star teammate, and great friend, the girls of West lose their fighting spirit. Then, when the unspirited team finds a reason to fight back, with the help of their tough coach portrayed by Helen Hunt, the girls fight in honor of their lost friend. Will they be able to win State Championships? Watch in theaters starting April 13th to find out.
  7. Ripon High’s 1st Annual Tribe Award Night: This year, every staff member at Ripon High will choose one student based on 7 criteria to receive a very, very special award called the Tribe Award night. Teachers are basing their nominee’s off of their academics, how much they contribute, their communication skills, participation, character, sportsmanship, and their own criteria. The ceremony will take place April 17th at 6:30.
  8. Avengers: Infinity War: In the third Avengers themed movie, many of the same characters will continue to be featured, such as Thor or Black widow but there will also some new characters to the Avengers universe, but maybe not new to the Marvel universe, like Groot or Black Panther. It takes help from all these Marvel heroes to defeat Thanos, a dark intergalactic being whose purpose to steal very powerful artifacts that he wants to use to bend reality to his will. Find out how the Avengers and their friends do against this powerful being on May 4th.
  9. The World Cup: This year, the World Cup will be held in Russia who are also providing this year’s mascot; a wolf named Zabivaka ( or ‘ the one who scores’ in Russian ). With a total of 64 games, Zabivaka certainly has his hands full. The games start at 7 AM Pacific time on June 14th. The games are scheduled to last until July 15th and most eyes will be on Germany, the winners of World Cup 2014. Will they be able to retain their title or will it belong to a new competitor?   10. The Incredibles 2: After 14 long years of waiting, Disney fans finally have their wishes come true with a sequel to one of their favorite movies; The Incredibles. In the last movie, there was a training sequence where we saw Mr. Incredible A.K.A. Bob Parr get back into his superhero shape. This time around its Elastigirl A.K.A. Helen Parr who gets to save the world while Mr. Incredible has the most dangerous job of all: taking care of a very dangerous baby. We saw in the last movie, that Jack-Jack seemed to more than just one power, but what we don’t know is how many powers exactly. Find out how The Incredible family does June 15th when the long-awaited Disney movie hits theaters.
