Mr. Wright Makes the Right Decision.
Everyone knows Mr.Wright, from athletic director, basketball coach, and favorite teacher. But this year was Mr.Wright’s last year as head basketball coach, he retired from the position after the boys’ last playoff game this year after coaching for 28 years, with 150 TVL league wins.
“I think that 28 years is a good reason to stop coaching,” Mr. Wright said.
He is planning on being an assistant coach rather than a head coach because his position as athletic director and head coach are beginning to take up all of his time and also clash at times.
Mr. Wright explained that, “This year was the perfect year to end with, the varsity team went 12:0 in league, which hasn’t been done since 2006, the last time the varsity team went undefeated in league.” Last year the team got close; their league score being 11:1.
“My best overall record including playoffs was 29:3 which was the year that Mr.Graham played for me,” said Wright
While Mr.Wright’s most proud records have already been announced, there are others that are less known, but have just as much importance to him as the rest. Overall Wright has had 150 league wins. As a coach he has made two section semifinals and has also made two appearances in state. Along with that, he has earned two section championship wins.
“I believe that the season went really well since we went 12:0, and I am proud of my team this year,”
