A Stunt Being Pulled at Cheer Nationals?

The skills of our Lady Indian Cheerleaders took themselves all the way to nationals in Anaheim California on February 24.

Going into competition many of the girls had high hopes knowing this is the seniors’ second time going into this event. Like anyone going into a competition, the ladies wanted to perform the best they possibly could to put their best foot forward in the scoring of the performance.

With their performance going fairly smoothly, the girls came out of the competition in 7th place out of 14 teams. The only visible mistake the girls made was a fall out of a stunt at the end of their performance.

One stunt falling could not be the reason for the 7th place finish in Anaheim, some of the girls say. Head Coach, Alisha Vasché tells us the rumors behind the scoring of this competition.

“ There is rumor in the cheer community that if you don’t go through one of the camps that the competition puts on that you may not be able to score as high at certain competitions.”

But favoritism or not, Vasché tells us,

“ It’s hard to say if they should have scored higher or not but I’m biased so of course I might think they should have scored higher… there were some teams that were better than them as well. I just maybe think they could have scored a little higher than seventh.”

Overall, even though it was not the outcome that our lady Indians wanted, They tried their best and still came out of the competition beating some of the most talented teams in the nation. Vasché says,

“The girls did an amazing job and competed against some highly talented southern California teams… I think they did the best they could at that time.”
