On November 23rd was the first competition of Ripon High School’s JROTC. Although it being the first, its participation was only allotted to people in the program for 1 to 2 years. It came to represent many for the Indian battalion, showing the young members the true nature of drill and its importance to those that do their best to succeed.
Although there is not much to tell in detail, there is much to say in the victories Ripon High’s JROTC has claimed. Taking first were unarmed platoon, unarmed squad, unarmed exhibition, color guard, and armed exhibition. Taking second was armed platoon, and taking third was armed squad. All of this was a staggering victory, one that all these cadets, and young commanders, will remember. For some this will be the first of many, others a first chance to lead, but most importantly: a victory.
