Varsity’s Big Win

Friday, Sept. 2 our Indians beat the McClatchy lions 49 to 7! This exciting event was opened by our JROTC crew planting the flags in the ground of the field. Followed by it was the varsity football team running out of their inflatable tunnel. This made the crowd scream in excitement.
Even though it was blazing, our players pulled through and made their entire school proud. The first touchdown was scored by Ripon High within the first ten minutes of the game, a great way to start it off. By the second quarter, the Indians had a commanding lead at 28 to 0. Senior Max Davis says, “It went better than how we thought it was going to go because they’re a D1 Sacramento team. I think us just coming out the gate as hard as we can, really helped us so the game went amazing.” Davis also talks about how his team was confident coming into the game, even though they know that their opponents may be tough. He says, “Even though they were D1, we watched film and everything and we were like, ‘oh we got this, we are a good team. We’re one of the best teams in the valley as we have shown in the past couple years’. So yeah, I would say we were pretty confident.” As the McClatchy Lions are D1 athletes I think this can prove that our Indians are NFL worthy!
By the third quarter, we were already up 42 to 0. Talk about defense, am I right? All of the team are very proud of themselves and have gotten a huge confidence boost from this monumental win! Sophomore Brett Shaw even says,”It was a great overall performance, we have all been working really hard for a long time, and it all really came together on Friday. Everyone did their jobs, and I really think we earned this win. It’s definitely going to boost the team’s morale going into the next few weeks.” With this being said it’s easily proven that the students of Ripon High have many exciting games to look forward to. I strongly encourage you all to come support our Football teams and show some RHS pride!
