Homecoming is filled with lots of events, including this Friday Night game featuring the Livingston Wolves (record of 2-4) taking on the Ripon High Indians (record of 4-3).

After a physical first quarter, the Wolves scored a late touchdown to take the first lead of the game. In the second quarter both teams exchanged touchdowns and with a missed extra point by the Indians, teams went into the half with Livingston being up 14-6. Ripon came out of the locker room with authority and scored 13 unanswered points in a highly defensive matchup. After the Indians failed to convert a crucial 4th down, Livingston marched down the field. With 13 seconds left, the Wolves throw it into the endzone, touchdown Wolves which would ultimately end the game for Ripon. A heartbreaking way to end Ripon’s homecoming.

After Friday Night, the Indians are 3rd in TVL with an overall record of 4-4, 2-2 in TVL going into the off season stretch. After some tough losses to East Union and Sonora, they went on to go onto win their next 4 of 5 games, losing to Hilmar and beating Modesto Christian and Riverbank. With a playoff berth on the line, the Indians look to have a strong finish and another consecutive playoff birth.

“I think we come off too slow sometimes but overall I think we have a good team. If we can just find it in the last two weeks and find out how good we can be we’ll go far in the playoffs,” stated Max Davis, senior. 

Due to Livingston injuries, the freshman football team traveled to Hilmar the day prior, Oct. 6, to rematch the Yellowjackets. Ripon coaches have a high standard for student-athletes which resulted in 6 starters in the first quarter allowing Hilmar to have an early 14-0 lead. They had a tough fight to put up, but they unfortunately lost 34 – 7. 

The football program endorses the motto S.W.A.G. The acronyms stand for Scholar, Athlete, Winner and Gentlemen. The coaches not only try to endorse this to become a better football player, but for these skills to be applicable for outside football. They try to install this mindset to become better and more respectful people to help shape them to the man they want to be. 

As Ripon goes into their bye week, they will have an extra week to prepare for rival Escalon at home with JV starting at 5:30 p.m and Varsity on Oct. 21.
