April is national poetry month and each year Ripon High’s English department hosts what they call “Poetry Cafe”. This is an opportunity for students and staff to share their original poetry with an open mic. The event will be in the Ripon Memorial Library Community Room on Wed. April 26 from 3pm to 4:20. The door is open, meaning participants can come and leave throughout the time frame. 

This will be the first time the event has taken place after the COVID-19 Pandemic. Poetry Cafe will be one to remember as it is Melinda Kopp’s, the head librarian, last opportunity to work with the school for this event before she retires. 

“I’m pretty excited! I hadn’t heard of it before, but I’m eager to see what it is about,” exclaimed Emma Walker, senior.
