One of the most beloved traditions for Ripon High’s homecoming week is the dress up days! We experience spirit weeks throughout the school year, but the homecoming dress up days are the most cherished. Dress up days are made to help uplift the spirit of the school and encourage people to get involved.
Senior, Claire Morris, is the leadership president for the class of 2025. She has been in leadership for the past four years of high school and loves to promote spirit at Ripon High. She states, “I really like the reels and Instagram [posts] to promote spirit because it’s a good way to stay with the current trends right now. It also allows us to involve people inside and outside of ASB easily.”
On Monday, the dress up theme was “unleash your inner beast,” with animal print, metallic/ glitter, or class color orange. This theme was decided by the freshmen and inspired by the movie Beauty and the Beast. Most students chose to wear cheetah print out of all the options.
Tuesday’s dress up day was “Tweedledee and Tweedldum”. Students matched with a friend, dressed as their favorite character, or wore the class color blue. This specific theme was based off of the movie, Alice and Wonderland, for the sophomores.
“The biggest reason we chose these spirit days was to include the student body in our events,” says sophomore, Hailey Keunnen.
On Wednesday the theme was Rags vs. Royals, where students could wear comfy clothes or formal, mismatched shoes, and the class color yellow. This dress up day was based on the character, Cinderella and the junior’s spirit stood out in the crowds!
“My favorite dress up day this week would have to be the Cinderella dress up day because it gives you a fancy occasion to dress up for and do something different than normal,” says Morris.
For Thursday, the senior’s dress up day, students were told to wear floral crowns, patterns, crazy hair and accessories, or dress as a favorite character from a story. As an easier option, students could wear the class color green. This dress up day was based on the princess, Rapunzel.
To end off the week, Ripon High was advised to show their spirit by wearing red and white, Spiritwear, or class t-shirts!
Spirit days at Ripon High is a great way to get involved, show your spirit, and have fun! The leadership crew works hard to do an excellent job at putting together events, dress up days, and much more, while also taking in suggestions from the student body.
“Some goals that leadership has this year is to be the best versions of ourselves while setting a good example for kids on campus, and promoting genuine spirit,” says junior student, Emme Wilbur.
As dress up days play a big part in Ripon High’s spirit, nothing would be possible without our leadership team!
