On Wednesday night the lights stood bright as the football stands were full of parents and students, but these fans weren’t watching any normal football game. That night girls became the football players while boys became the cheerleaders. In a game of scratching, clawing, and broken nails the Soph-Junior team came out victorious over the Frosh-Senior team with a victory 28-0.
Right off the bat the Sophomore-Junior team came out with a desire to win. They forced a quick 3 and out first drive of the game and Jillian Jamero returned the punt for a 40 yard Touchdown. The Soph-Junior team was led by Giana Machado at quarterback along with speedsters Jamero and Kaylyn Evans at running back. The big 3 would each have touchdowns during the game. The most impressive drive of the game for the Soph-Junior team was the opening halftime drive where they marched 75 yards down the field to score.
Even though the Frosh-Senior team was shutout they played till the end without ever giving up. They were led by seniors Emily O’Brien, Darian Van Der Maaten, and Jourdy Richter. The Frosh-Senior team had numbers over the Soph-Junior team, but had plenty of inexperienced freshman. Despite losing most seniors had a blast playing in their last game of powder puff and won’t forget their memories playing. This game leaves the freshman girls hungry for victory in next year’s game. When asked about her favorite part about powder puff Melanie Ulrich said,” My favorite part of it was the feeling you get after pulling someone’s flag. I definitely going to miss playing powder puff.”
During halftime guy cheer performed an impressive routine anchored by William Rankin and Shane Thompson. After the cheer performance TJ Hobbs was elected Homecoming Court.
After the game freshman Makayla Buie said,”I really liked playing defense and tackling people.” She also added,” I liked bonding with the other girls and making new friends. I’m for sure going to play until I win.”
