As many of you already know, the third installment of the Hunger Games movies recently came out in theaters. Book fans everywhere have been preparing for the worst. Most people will agree that the third book in the series was the weakest and hardest to read. Luckily, the movie adaptation made up for the things that the book was lacking.
For the first time in book-to-movie history, a movie just might have been better than its novel counterpart. In the past Hunger Games installments, there have been very few differences from page to movie. Mockingjay is the first installment in the series to stray from the novel, which might just explain why it was so much better than the book. The book very hard to get through and seemed incredibly rushed, as if the author was in a hurry to wrap the story up. By splitting the final book into two separate movies, the rushed feeling goes away. Furthermore, the film adapters did an amazing job making the movie even better than one imagined it in the book.
All in all, I would give the movie a 4.78-5 stars. I was amazed that the film makers could take such an atrocious book and turn it into my favorite movie in the Hunger Games series thus far.
So if you are skeptical about watching Mockingjay because of the book, watch it anyways. You might just be pleasantly surprised.
