The Riverbank Doubles Tournament is a tennis tournament hosted in Riverbank for co-ed tennis teams who compete in different brackets as a form of scrimmaging before the spring tennis season. Teams come from all over to compete and including Placerville, Riverbank, Escalon, Modesto Christian, and the Ripon Indians.
The Ripon high tennis team attended the tournament last Friday in order to gain some extra practice before the season starts. However, the Indians were put to the test against some of the toughest teams in the valley. Normally in the afternoon bracket, the Indians outstanding performance earned them a spot in the morning bracket, the harder of the two.
“It was a fun experience as a Senior to go”, says Fidel Perez. “I wasn’t to worried about winning, I was more focused on playing well to show all these other teams who they’re dealing with this year.” Based on the Indians performance on Friday, they are in a stalemate for taking TVL with rival school Escalon.
