On Tuesday Ripon’s Brandon Scott threw a no-hitter against league rival Hilmar. The Indians would go on to win 1-0. Scott struck out eight total Yellowjackets and only allowed three batters on base. None of those players reached second base. The game was all tied up at zero until the sixth when Ripon was finally able to get a run to take the lead.
“When you’re good, you’re good,” said Scott. This is the first no-hitter a Ripon player has thrown since Scott’s older brother threw one several years ago.
In the sixth inning Sammy Souza got on base with hit. Jared Andrews then got a hit to advance Souza to second, but Andrews got out via a fielder’s decision. Nick Price then got a hit advancing Souza to third then Zach Horwood hit Souza home giving Ripon the lead.
Ripon was able to get seven hits during the game. The Indians also performed great on defense making zero errors.
In an interview with pitcher Trent Murphy commented,”Brandon and I in the last two games have given up a combined one hit in the last 14 innings.”
The Indians play Hilmar again at home at 4 P.M on the 12th. The Indians are 1-0 in league and 2-1 overall.
