What was expected to be an easy victory on Friday turned out to be a total sweep for the Ripon High tennis team as they defeated the Hughson Huskies 9-0.The overwhelming victory for the Indians proved to be motivational to the team which is now preparing for their next match.
While each match proved to be a decisive victory, the most notable match came from Boys #2 doubles players Fidel Perez and Fredericko Estrada, both who have never really played a league match before. Perez has never played tennis before, and although he received lessons, Estrada hasn’t played in years. Based on the circumstances, the boys’ score of 6-0, 6-2 is all but impressive.
With their first league victory sealed, the Indians are now ready to get underway with what may be their strongest opponent in league, Riverbank. After shocking news of Riverbank’s victory over Escalon, the Indians prepare for what may be the match of the season.
