On Monday, April 10, the Oakland Athletics and the Kansas City Royals battled it out in Kansas City and the A’s defeated the Royals 2-0. Left fielder, Khris Davis blasted his fourth home run of the season, putting the A’s up 2-0.
Davis went after a 3-0 fastball from Royals pitcher, Ian Kennedy to give the A’s a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. “I didn’t think he got all of it,” said Kennedy. “Then I saw the wind kind of taking it. But he’s strong.”
A’s starting pitcher, Jharel Cotton had a bounce back game from giving up five runs in 4 innings in his first start this season against the Angels. This time, Cotton gave up only two hits, walked three and struck out six. “I think he just settled in quick,” said A’s manager Bob Melvin. “We’ve seen him when he gets on a roll early, he’s tough to deal with. If you get him out of his rhythm, then it’s a bit more of a challenge for him.”
The Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics will continue their series until Thursday, April 13.
