Tardies at Ripon High

At RHS, we need to work on reducing the number of tardies we have, so we can all be successful, academic students!

Almost everyone has been late at least once, but some students are consistently late on a weekly- or even daily basis. Many tardies are accidental, but certain tardies are entirely preventable.

At RHS, if you get 3 unexcused tardies you will receive a detention. If you continue to be tardy, you’ll continue to get longer detentions and eventually a Saturday School or suspension.

Senior Gabby Coleman says, “However late a student is to school is the amount of time they should serve in detention after school.”

Further on, if you continue to get more tardies it turns into levels of truancy.

Vice Principal, Mr. Ramirez says, “I think it’s important to be in class on time. It’s important to be on time to any commitment. The policy is clear and its important that it’s followed.”

At every school district there is a different policy, just as the school policy is different.

Ways to prevent tardies are laying out your clothes the day before, doing all your homework on time not procrastinating until last minute, etc.

If your car breaks down, or a family emergency happens you can do nothing about it but explain yourself to administration.

Preparing for the day before school is a way you cannot be tardy so let’s all try this so we can all not be late to school.
