RHS eSports Current Events

Ripon High’s eSports teams are finally getting a taste of the competitive gaming scene along with other schools throughout the state of California. Although we had a competitive team that played last year, this year we were able to add 2 new games and teams to participate in. These games include League of Legends, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart, and the students involved with these respective teams have been playing online against other schools for the past few months. This is all thanks to PlayVs, a company that partners with high schools to allow them to play games competitively against each other.

“I would like to see more people join the program, it’s a great place to meet people that play the same games as you. You don’t even have to compete, it’s really chill,” said Alex Tavizon, senior.

All teams that are part of the program are actively participating in tournaments statewide, and they have been bringing home many wins. Currently these tourney’s are held online, but there are plans for their to be in-person competitions in the future.

“My plans for next and further are to get more of our matches streamed and hosted by players, and hopefully see how many new students we’ll have,” said Mr. Brown, head coach of our eSport league.

Our time participating in competitive eSports has been rather short so far, but we are barely scratching the surface in terms of how we can improve. In the future, there can be even more games, tournaments, and players that will be apart of the program. If you are interested in playing games for our school, join RHS eSports today!
