Girls League

Throughout this school year, Girls League has been doing many activities to help provide for the Ripon community. They have been trying to make this school year better and put more smiles on the community’s faces. A lot of the girls do service projects around Ripon to help out local businesses.

“Girls League is mostly for any girl that wants to get involved with other girls at their school and who wants to kind of form that girl community and build those relationships with people that you can keep throughout high school,” said Naomi Wilber, senior.

The main point of the girls league is to get girls involved and help them feel like they belong in the crazy world of Highschool. At the beginning of this year,[sno-poll id=”13767″ result_color=”#bf0d0d” tile_color=”#ffffff” align=”left” background=”on” background_color=”#ffffff” border=”all” border_color=”#888888″ border_size=”5px” shadow=”on”] the seniors were paired with the sophomores and the juniors were paired with the freshman. This way everyone in the girls league has a “sister”. This helps the underclassmen know they have someone to go to if they need any help and in all just to make a new friend.

“For me, the purpose of Girls league is to create an atmosphere of sisterhood on campus despite grade level. Just girls being able to bond over femininity and just helping each other out. Also, the fact that a younger sister has an older sibling was something I really enjoyed within Girls League,” said Avery Redula, senior.

Throughout this year, Girls League has helped out around the community and school. They hosted the taking pictures with Santa, helped with the almond blossom fashion show, and have written letters to the Bethany Home retirement center. Throughout all these events they have given back more to the community. But due to covid happening last year, they were not able to do as many things. Now that Covid has died down, they are able to start up these activities again and do so many more activities than later years.

“It’s different from all the other years because due to COVID, my freshman year it got cut off. . . We were able to do it at the same time as later years when we did the scavenger hunt. It’s really exciting because when I came into high school, I was really looking forward to Girls League and now I just finally got what it’s actually like,” said Brooke Barros, junior.

Now that Girls League has turned around they are now able to do so many more activities that can give back to this amazing community. Girls League has also helped build bonds with the women at our school and has helped bring all the girls at our school closer together.
