Welcoming Track and Field
Track and Field welcomed the official start of the season at the Trans Valley League (TVL) relay meet. The teams of Ripon High, Hughson High, Riverbank High, Escalon High, Livingston High, and Hilmar High, competed on the Hughson track on March 16, 2022. The meet allowed the teams to join together before they begin competing one-on-one throughout the season.
For the opening TVL meet, athletes competed in relays or field events. The relays included shuttle hurdle, distance medley, sprint medley, throwers 4x100m, 4x100m, 4x800m, 4x200m, and 4x400m. Shot put, discus, long jump, high jump, triple jump, and pole vault were the field events athletes took part in. These events were available in two categories, either varsity or open. Ripon had their Indians competing in each event in both categories.
For the relay meet the varsity boys and girls teams were scored. Both Ripon’s boys and girls came out on top taking first in the meet. The team has high hopes to continue the winning streak as they begin the league season. Teams in the TVL will have various dual meets through the next few months, then all come together for League Finals.
This year there will be five dual meets on Ripon’s home track. The season officially starts on March 22, 2022 with the Indians competing against Escalon. The team will continue to compete in League until the postseason Divisonals and Masters meets. No one from Ripon High has made it to the state championship, but this season could change that statistic. Postseason begins on May 5, 2022.
