Boys Golf 2022

Now that golf has been starting up, the golf team has been competing in more and more matches as time goes on. Their goal, in the end, is to win more matches and progress to being TVL champions. But, out of the thirty people on the golf team, only seven go to the matches and only six actually play.

“What motivates me is probably just by the competition to get to the next level to pay for college. It feels good being one of the people chosen to actually play. I mean it’s a lot of fun competing. I know a lot of us guys find it a lot of fun, and so when there’s a lot of people out showing interest in it, it’s just fun to come out on top,” said Chad Flory, junior.

The boy’s team this year has been doing really well and has won a lot of their matches. They haven’t lost one match yet, and their goal is to continue to keep this streak up.

“Whether we’re on the range or we’re out there playing nine, it’s always just a good time. My coaches Mussman and Kissee definitely pressure me to be better, and they’ll fix whatever I got going on in my swing and just motivate me to be the best version of me,” said William Peters, sophomore.

Many of the players that have not received much playing time have been more motivated to do better and prove themselves worthy of playing. They hope that they can receive more playing time throughout the later years so that they can progressively grow in the golf world. Many of them stated in an article that Kissee has helped them get better and feel more motivated to play.

“This golf season has been my first year ever competitively doing golf, I’ve only played for fun before. I came in the first day and I couldn’t hit a golf ball and now I’m out here and I’m scoring average. I hope to start playing with everyone else. But overall the season has felt good,” said Bradley Reedy, sophomore.

Throughout the season many of the players have gotten much better due to the amazing coaches they have. All of the players state that their coaches and teammates motivate them to become better and try to make it to the next level. Players spend fourteen to twenty-one hours a week at golf practice, and it is really paying off in the end!
