Comp Cheer Banquet

Comp+Cheer+Banquet

Did you know there was a competitive cheer banquet on April 8, 2022, to celebrate their past cheer season? They ate, handed out awards, talked about their past season, took pictures with their teammates, and gave their coaches gifts.

This was the competitive cheerleaders first time attending nationals and they got first, second, and third. Competitive cheer is a great way for the girls to bond and make new friends throughout this experience. The girls got to travel, be with their friends, and do something they truly love, so they said it was overall a great experience.

“I loved being able to travel with my friends from school and being able to help people in their first year of comp cheer,” says Brooklynn Cockriel, sophomore.

Throughout this experience, the girls learned that competitive cheer is a great way to get to know each other, but they also learned that it is way different from sideline cheer, so they had to really learn what competitive cheer was about, but with the amazing friends they made on the team, it was not really an issue for them.

“I am happy with the way the season ended. There was a great group of girls we had on the team and it overall was a great season for the team,” said Natalie Beccera, sophomore.

After getting a look at what consisted of and it came to an end, the cheerleaders got to celebrate this great season with a competitive cheer banquet. Coaches, cheerleaders, and the overall whole season were celebrated. The girls and coaches talked about their past season, took pictures, gave gifts to their coaches, and were given awards. The girls on the team got their coaches a picture frame that they signed with a picture of all of them in it. Many well-deserved awards were given out to several of the girls on the team with speeches by their coaches.

“The award I got was most versatile. I got this because my coaches said that anywhere they put me, whether it was being a back spot or base, to different spots in the dance, they said I did it and I did it well,” said Beccera.

Banquets are a great way to be able to appreciate and reflect on your past season. You can spend time with the friends you made over this experience and celebrate your triumphs together. Over this celebration, athletes can be recognized and rewarded for their hard work and dedication and are able to remember the memories they made with their team over their past season.
