2022 NFL Draft
The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in the Superbowl on February 13, 2022. The season felt that it had just started. Fans must now wait till September for the new season to continue again, but on April 28, NFL teams have the chance to add more talent to the team in their annual NFL Draft.
The NFL Draft is one of the most anticipated processes in the NFL season. It is a process which gives NFL teams chances to improve their team with new talent by selecting players from the collegiate level. The order is dependent on the record of each team and their success in the playoffs is qualified for them.
The Jacksonville Jaguars had the first overall pick from players like Aiden Hutchinson (defensive end from Michigan), Ahmad Gardner (cornerback from Cincinnati), and Kayvon Thibodeaux (defensive end from Oregon). Ultimately, they chose Travon Walker, the defensive end from the University of Georgia.
“Travon Walker should not be the first overall pick. He is not the best player in the draft class. He only played 34% of pass rush last year and he had a really good combine, but it does not make him the first overall pick,” stated Max Davis, junior.
When it comes to every NFL Draft, there are a lot of players who get drafted earlier in the draft and do not plan out as well as scouts thought they would. Some of this could be that prospects performed well in college or tested out at the NFL Combine so impressively that the team takes chances on the upside of that player. Some players, however, played decently or tested out ok at the Combine but turned out to be better than the players recognized as the “best players in the class.”
“The steal of the draft by far has to be Jermaine Johnson. He is just an absolute stud out of Florida State. He was projected to go within the top ten and dropped to the Jets at 26,” stated Peyton Reiseck, junior.
