Track and field had their third TVL home meet this last Wednesday. On April 25th, 2022. Ripon overall won with a score of 43 points over Hilmar. All the runners were excited for their first meet that wasn’t an invitational. Last year, due to COVID track and field meets were run a lot differently and this year thankfully, everything is back to normal and all events are going.

“I am super excited to run and do my events, and I hope Ripon wins!” said Katie Martin, sophomore.

Ripon has a lot of events for track and field that other schools don’t participate in or don’t have coaches. For boys hurdles, only Ripon participated in it. Anthony Sausedo, came in first for the boys 100M hurdles. Anthony has done track and field all four years of highschool and said that he is happy he did it because he believes it’s something he has been able to get good at.

“I have gotten really good at hurdles with technique and all and I enjoy doing them. It’s so fun and anyone can try them,” says Anthony Sausedo, senior.

Obviously anytime Ripon plays Hilmar in a sport there’s much anticipation for the build up. Many students went to attend the meet but early on it became clear that Ripon had the stronger team.

“It was really exciting and fun to compete against Hilmar this year because of the rivalry we have together,” said Lucia Perez, sophomore.

Ripon’s track team this year is a very strong group of individuals and it is always fun to watch them grow and dominate against other teams. Especially our rivals like Hilmar.
