8th Grade Day

8th+Grade+Day

Ripon High welcomed our upcoming freshmen for the 2022-2023 school year on Feb. 22, 2022. The 8th-grade day is a way to prepare for their next four years by exploring the campus and learning about the ways high school.

“8th-grade day was fun because it was a great experience getting to know the younger classman and understand some of the activities I don’t usually participate in.” Lucia Machado  Perez, sophomore.

At the start of the 8th-grade day, the band got to play in front of the students. After the meeting, the students went off and started to explore the new classes. They went to Ag. and JROTC. Throughout the activity, the upcoming freshmen got to hear Chad Pole, Mayfield, and Felver speak about their classes. Many of the students loved to hear firsthand teachers at Ripon High talk about their course and what they had to offer if they joined their class.

“I think that Chad Pole presented the best. It just felt like he connected the most and made the most jokes and even if they were somewhat cringy he would say “Is that mid,” this was a way to connect with their slang and make them feel more comfortable.” Devin Fitzpatrick, sphomore.

Overall we should thank our link crew for all the work they put in to make this activity great for these 8th graders. They spent much of their time planning this so that everyone could get the best experience for their first impression with the high school.

“Putting 8th-grade day together was honestly a lot of work, however, it didn’t feel like that in the long run because I have such great trainees. Jenna Skavdahl and Jenaveve Albert are the sweetest, hard workers ever, and they have grown so much since I first met them. This event would have been put on without their help, and it made everything a lot less stressful.” Gabbi Ilardi, junior.

The 8th-grade day was a great way for the students to interact with the High School and get more informed on what the next four years of their life would be like. [sno-poll id=”13652″ result_color=”#bf0d0d” tile_color=”#ffffff” align=”left” background=”on” background_color=”#ffffff” border=”all” border_color=”#888888″ border_size=”5px” shadow=”on”]
