Every year at Ripon High school, two senior student athletes are awarded a Trans Valley League title. This year, it was Nolan Young and Rhylee Magazinovic! The two students have worked hard all throughout highschool whether it is in the classroom or on the field/court. To be awarded this title is a great feeling to the students as it shows their hardwork and dedication.

“When I found out I was awarded with this I felt a sense of honor that people were noticing my hard work and I was overall very proud of myself,” stated Nolan Young.

Grades will take you further than your sports will, strive for the best and you will accomplish great things.

Nolan has played basketball for 4 years, football for 3, and participated in track and field his freshman year. He enjoys working hard in basketball and football and loves the feeling of winning. He also loves the feeling of making himself and his parents proud with keeping up good grades. Some advice he would give to others is to get stuff done in the classroom first, then work hard on the field.

“I am proud to represent my school as the 2021-2022 Trans Valley League Scholar Athlete. I love RHS and working hard towards my goals,” says Nolan Young.

Rhylee Magazinovic has played softball her whole life, since she was 4. She also played basketball until her freshman year. Rhylee was nominated this award because of her softball coach who nominated her because of her academics and athletics. Rhylee has the highest GPA for girls in sports at Ripon High in the senior class.

“I’m really grateful that I was able to have this amazing opportunity. It makes me proud of everything I’ve worked for,” says Rhylee Magazinovic.

Rhylee was very appreciative and excited when she found out that she was awarded the TVL title as well and added onto how proud she is of the hard work she has put into the classroom and field. Advice she would like to give to others that would like to receive this award or just want to better themselves in the classroom and on the field/court is to always put academics first and strive for a high GPA, and after be the best you can be at your sport and always work to get better.

“Grades will take you further than your sports will, strive for the best and you will accomplish great things,” said Rhylee Magazinovic.
