Track and Field made RHS history last week as boys and girls simultaneously became TVL champions for the first time ever.

The undefeated girls continued their sweep at the Trans Valley League Championship on Thursday, May 5. The boys are co-champions with Hughson, pulling off a victory after previously losing to the team once during the regular season.

The girls team scored 190.33 points at the championship meet in Riverbank, creating a whopping 83.63 difference between themselves and Hilmar, the second place team. The boys defeated the other teams with a score of 163 with their closest competitor, Hughson, falling 42 points behind. Twenty-four Ripon athletes placed in the top three for their events, as well as all four relay teams coming in first, advancing to Divisonals next week.

Top male athletes from RHS include: seniors Anthony Sausedo, Jaden Hamilton Norberto Quintero, Jack Manning; sophomores Omar Alsaidi, Devin Fitzpatrick, Austin Wood; and freshman Eric Guvera and Marcus Madoski.

Sausedo will compete at Divisionals for the 110m and 300m hurdles, 400m dash, and 4x100m relay along with relay-mates Manning, Hamilton and Quintero.

Ripon track fans will be excited to know the 4x400m relay came in first at the championship meet and will continue on to next week. The team consists of Hamilton, Quintero, Guvera and Fitzpaterick.

Ripon boys has several talented athletes competing in individual events as well. Hamilton will compete in pole vault and the 400m dash. Quintero will race in the 200m dash and 100m dash. Manning will find himself sprinting the 100m dash. Alsaidi advances in the 1600m and 3200m runs. Wood will throw in the discus competition and Madoski will compete in the high jump.
