The Ripon High boys water polo team blew the competition out of the water during the quarter-final round, in the division two section qualifying game, on Thursday, Nov. 2, against El Capitan High School with a final score of 22-9. Brody Biedermann and Ben Svoboda, juniors, led the team in most goals with five. Owen Curtiss, senior, and Ryan Bell, junior, both added in three goals a piece. Juniors, McKeane Beier and Teo West both contributed two, and freshman Trevor Bell had one late in the fourth. The offensive play for the boys was consistent and dominant. They were constantly running fast plays and getting the ball in the back of the net.

Biedermann stated, “I’m proud that I went five for five on offense. It has been one of my goals this year to get a 100 percent shooting accuracy during a game and I am glad that I achieved it.”

Not only did the RHS boys have a great offensive game, but they also had a great defense that consistently protected their goalie. Curtiss led the team with the most blocks, at six. Biedermann followed with four. Bier, Biedermann, and Trevor Bell all had two steals. The boys ran a press throughout the whole game and rarely had to drop on the center. They had good driver defense, resulting in the team not having many ejections. The RHS boys play on Wednesday, Nov. 8, against Del Oro, in the section semi-final game that will be held under the lights at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton at 5:30 p.m.
