Giants Win Five In a Row

The San Francisco Giants (17-25) have been on fire lately, sealing their fifth straight win on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers (23-18). Giants starting pitcher, Ty Blach worked seven innings to lead the Giants to a 2-1 victory over the Dodgers.

Blach allowed five hits, one of those a home run from Dodgers second baseman, Chris Taylor in the sixth inning. Blach has a 1.17 Earned Run Average in four starts against the Dodgers. “He’s one of those guys who’s unflappable. He just keeps coming at you and he has more stuff than he gets credit for.” said Giants manager, Bruce Bochy.

Dodgers pitcher, Rich Hill, gave a solid performance, allowing just one home run from Giants first baseman, Brandon Belt in the fifth inning.

The Giants broke a 1-1 tie in their half of the sixth inning against Dodgers reliever, Luis Avilan. Brandon Belt singled, advanced on a wild pitch, moved to third base on catcher, Buster Posey’s grounder and scored on shortstop, Brandon Crawford’s single.

“For a guy who’s hitting close to .400 to give up his at-bat to move the runner, it just shows you what kind of team player he is.” Giants first baseman, Michael Morse said about Posey. “Not only that, but he also has faith that the guy behind him is going to do his job.”

The Giants went on to beat the Dodgers 2-1, giving them their fifth consecutive win. They will continue their series against the Dodgers until Wednesday, May 17.
