Ava Velasco-Profile

Ava Velasco is a Junior at Ripon High. Her personal goal for the school year is to learn to enjoy school more as a whole and not view it as something that she has to do every week day. She wants to be more involved, whether it be in the school play or in Journalism. She is Co-President of Photography Club, in Drama Club, Girls League, and United. Velasco runs Cross Country and sprints hurdles in Track. Her favorite part of Journalism would have to be how the people in the class aren’t afraid to find every possible way to get the true story when it comes to their articles. She also likes how the class is very tight-knit. She is looking forward to the school play in the spring put on by Drama Club. Her future plans after high school are to go to college and do a double major in English and the Arts. She is not sure to which college but she does know that she wants to stay in-state. Velasco wants to change the world for the better. If she becomes an English teacher, she wants to inspire kids to do the once thought impossible. If she becomes a screenwriter, author, or animator, she wants the world to be changed through the artwork she produces. She wants the world to be more open about sensitive topics and see that everyone is entitled to their very own opinions, and that everyone is unique.
