Why Being a Mother Should Be Considered a Full-Time Job
Motherhood, contrary to popular belief, should be considered a full-time job. This does in no way imply that mothers should just stay at home cooking, cleaning, and caring for their kids and not working. Although, being a stay-at-home mom is, in fact, admirable. What is more admirable than even being solely a mother is being able to balance that and a demanding career.
Being a mother, whether it be of one or several children, is a difficult task in itself. There are always pros and cons to weigh in any situation and that need to be carefully thought out.

Junior Trinity McGinnis has six siblings, five sisters and one brother, and her mother stays at home full time.
“Sometimes my mom is really stressed because she has to deal with seven children and that can be tough sometimes, but overall, she is content with handling it all,” states McGinnis.
McGinnis believes that her mother would rather stay at home than go to work because this way, she has plenty of time with her children.
Similarly, junior Evelynn Bernardino only has one sibling, yet her mother also stays at home.
“She is pretty stressed with handling the chores at home since we live in a place where there is a lot of dirt and stuff [that] can never stay clean. But my brother and I do our best to help out,” Bernardino states.
Bernardino claims that her mother would like to go back to work for the extra income, but Bernardino personally would not favor that option because it adds onto her mother’s stress load.
On the other hand, Sophomore Zoe Barba is an only child, and her mother is not a stay at home mom. She works at a prison hospital in Stockton that she commutes to everyday. Barba claims that her mother balances home life well, and it does not bother her.
Barba claims that if her mother did stay at home, she would not know what to do with herself all day other than clean or watch TV.
“…[I]t is hard being a single parent who has to take care of a teenager all by themselves,” Barba concedes.
