Journalism has constructed the second edition of our RHS Cookbook; a winter themed one. During the busy winter season, it is so calming to have a nice platter of warm cookies sitting at home, but what if you don’t know how to cook cookies? If you don’t know where to start when it comes to cooking, or you are looking for some impressive recipes to make for yourself or companions, these cookbooks are the right place. The RHS Cookbooks are a culmination of recipes from all walks of life, all from our little high school.

“I think it’s a really good thing and I’m excited for it,” Freshman Danika Matuska said.

Food takes a special place in many people’s hearts around the holiday season. December is a month full of traditions, done with family year after year since childhood. Some people when submitting their recipes with their old kitchen fun in mind.

“The recipe was my grandmother’s. A Peppernut is a German cookie. Very difficult to make but the memories of her making them make my heart so happy,” Teacher Mrs. Mortensen said.

Everyone is inspired to cook by something or someone, whether it be a cooking show online or an elderly family member teaching you their culinary skills. Many families will expose their children to cooking at a young age, and others just have a sudden draw to it and have a talent. The people of Ripon High give a little information on how they got interested in cooking things.

“I like doing hands on crafts and I love being in the kitchen and I love food,” Freshman Luz Ceja said.

Even if you don’t know how to cook, there are many people and things there to assist you. The best thing out of everything would just be practice. As many will tell you. Matuska also has a couple last cooking tips from experience that she shares with people.
