Glamour and Glitz at the Grammy’s

Music is not just a thing people listen to, it is also an escape or a type of therapy for people to get away from what is bothering most. It should be known more for the art, instead of getting overlooked. As Billie Eilish once said, “Words are more powerful than some noises. Noises won’t last long. Lyrics are so important, and people don’t realize that.”

The morning before the show, reports were reported that former NBA legend, Kobe Bryant, and his daughter Gianna Bryant were two of the nine people in the helicopter crash that occurred in  Calabasas, California. Many musicians honored him during the show; for example, John Legend, YG, Meek Mill, Kirk Franklin also honored the legend and singer Nipsey Hustle tribute as they performed the song Higher.

The Grammy’s is always one of the most-watched events of the year whether it’s to see their favorite artists win an award, or just to watch the performances. Some of the major singers that performed at the show were Lizzo, Jonas Brothers, Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish, the Nipsey Hustle tribute, Lil Nas X, etc. Many of those performances were not just for entertainment, they were to honor someone specific to for their impact. For example, Demi Levato performed “Anyone”. This song was made four days before she had an overdose and nearly died. She performed this song because she thought this was an important story to share with the world.

Eighteen-year-old sensation Billie Eilish killed in the pop section of the Grammys as she received four Grammys. Not too far behind was another upcoming artist Lizzo as she received three Grammys that night. While singers did not do as good as Lizzo and Billie Eilish, many still did successful as singers/duos won such as “Speechless,” Dan + Shay, “While I’m Livin’, “Tanya Tucker, “Igor,” Tyler, The Creator, and “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X Featuring Billy Ray Cyrus won awards in their specific categories.
