Magical Night at Sadie Hawkins Dance
This year’s Sadie Hawkins dance theme was Disney. The RHS students that went to the 2020 Sadie Hawkins dance were all dressed up as fun and popular Disney characters. The costumes were spectacular; from the cute couple costumes to the awesome friend-group ones. The dance was amazing; from its current and “throwback” music that the DJ was playing to their wonderful caricature drawings.
“I got my caricature drawing done and I loved it! My friends and I did one and I found it interesting what characteristics he found stood out on each of us. We liked to compare them to us in real life and found some things that were similar and could tell who was who. This is a great piece to keep as a memory with my friends and I think it was a great idea. He was also pretty quick when making it,”said Freshmen Asia Rose.
Not only was getting a caricature drawing fun, but so was dancing to the great music the DJ was playing. He played trending songs that we all listen to now and some well-known songs from a while back.
“I enjoyed the music the DJ played in that he did not only play new music that everyone enjoys and is familiar with, but he played some older songs in the past years that would be considered a “throwback” for some and older songs that people may have forgotten about but used to listen to. He also played shorter clips of songs to get a lot of music in and to play the popular parts that people would know,” Rose stated.
Of course, one of the key points of any dance is dressing up with your friends or date. There were so many spot-on costumes from popular Disney movies or shows. From Tinkerbell to Mickey and Minnie mouse costumes, the characters that people dressed up as were endless.
“I did like how the dance was Disney themed because that way I got to see everyone’s cool outfits and it reminded me of my favorite childhood shows,” Freshmen Maria Barajas said.
