Ripon High School was able to come on top in the game against Ripon Christian. The final score at the end of the game was 70-64. It was a hard-fought victory for RHS, in the first half RC was on top but RHS was able to make a comeback. Fouling wise, the first half for RHS was not the best, they already had fouled multiple people in the first and second quarters. RHS is on a one winning streak and overall has 15 W and 13 L. RHS is ranked 566th in the State, 73th in the Section, and 12th in the Section Division.

“The game went incredible tonight. The guys played together and played hard, they stuck exactly to the game plan and most importantly they made free throws when they counted. In my opinion, the calls made by the refs don’t matter, we were probably fouling, to be honest with you but we made some adjustments at halftime which made the difference,” said Coach Justin Graham.

Overall, RHS shot 62% at the free-throw line and RC shot 67%. Both teams did make their mistakes but came through when the time was right. Many players believe that RC had a higher percentage in free throws because they were given a lot of opportunities to shoot free throws.

“The game went pretty good, we came out with some intensity and energy which allowed us to have a good start. The calls from the refs weren’t that bad, we have had worse refs before. I think RC played decently, they didn’t play their best but neither did we,” said Junior Malik Taylor.

Though RHS’s offense was good, they lacked on the defensive side which let RC score more points. But at halftime, RHS was blue to regroup and play solid offense and defense. RHS had a 50% field goal percentage but only had nine steals and zero blocks. RC had a 43% field goal percentage and they had 13 steals and also had three blocks.

“The game against RC came out pretty strong and we kind of kept the tempo up. In the end, we kept our cool and our composure which helped us get the victory. Some things that went that game were that we had intensity and energy the whole game and we were running the offense pretty good,” said Junior Austin Bonilla

Overall both teams performed pretty well and it was a very close game but RHS was able to take home the victory. RHS is going to have another game against Venture Academy on Wednesday, Feb 19 at 7:00 P.M., try to go to that game as well.

“We performed well but could have done better,” said Coach Justin Graham
