Fall Fest 2020

Are you participating in Fall fest activities? Fall Fest is happening now and is making students so excited to be a part of a school function that celebrates the season. Fall Fest is filled with fun activities to bring the student body closer together in this difficult time.

Fall fest may sound familiar to some students, but that’s because RHS usually is starting to organize Winterfest around this time. As sad as it is to not be able to celebrate one of the community’s favorite events that happens here at the high school, the leadership program wanted to shine a light on a new idea called Fall Fest.

Teacher Jill Mortenson says, “ We felt we could create that same atmosphere, even from afar, for the student body with this event.”

As much as everyone will miss Winterfest, the school is very excited to see what this new idea can bring to the school.  Fall fest includes spirit days, contests, goodie bags, and candidates for most spirited.

Freshman Aliya Mast said, “ I am most excited for seeing who the candidates for most spirited are.”

Students had the chance to vote for who they thought was the most spirited in their class. Mortensen joins leadership students while driving to nominees houses to deliver the news. They also set up an Instagram live for the whole student body to watch as the candidates received the exciting information. While these times are not easy, the school is trying to make this experience as normal as it possibly can be

“I don’t think this could replace Winterfest. We did not want to get rid of traditions, instead we thought of this as a replacement year.” says freshman representative Kylee Brown.

So don’t worry, our favorite traditions will continue. This year of course was a little bit different, but everyone hopes that next year will bring back traditions we all love and miss.

“It is scary to try new things especially with such a large audience as our student body. But it is our hope that our student body will stand with us knowing that we are doing our very best under restrictions,” says Mortensen.
