Enola Holmes Review
On September 23rd of this year, a new Netflix movie was released titled Enola Holmes. Enola Holmes is a movie about a young girl on a mission to find her beloved mother, Eudoria Holmes (Helena Bonham Carter), who seemingly disappeared overnight. This movie takes place somewhere around the 1900s in London starring Millie Bobby Brown, who also appeared in another popular Netflix release, Stranger Things.
Millie Bobby Brown plays a witty and memorable character throughout the movie, and encounters Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge), throughout the movie, and continues to grow very fond of him. Enola lived a very unique life, with much freedom and hardly any rules under the care of her mother until the disappearance. She is also the younger sister to world-known Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill), and Mycroft Holmes (Sam Claflin). Throughout Enola’s life, it has been primarily her and her mother, growing very distant from her brothers so much so that they do not recognize her. Enola’s brothers highly disapprove of the life she’s been living and try to send her to a finishing school. Enola has been trained in several forms of self-defense, which she puts to use several times in the movie. Although Enola Holmes is fairly recent, it has already been labeled as one of the most popularly streamed movies on Netflix and has many great attributes along with it. These include characteristics such as an interesting plot and characters to keep the audience entertained. Enola Holmes has proven to be an outstanding and compelling movie suitable for an audience of 13+ in my opinion. Although some may not be drawn in purely because of Brown, Sherlock Holmes fans possibly will enjoy the movie since Enola is said to be his younger sister.
Whether it be the love for the actors, plot, or sleuthing, this movie has something perfect for everyone in the family and earns ⅘ stars. I deducted one star because of the fact that the ending seemed a bit rushed and there could have been some more closure. Despite this, the remaining points of interest only leave more ideas for a second movie. All in all, I highly recommend Enola Holmes for the whole family to watch and believe it is definitely one of the better movies that have been released on Netflix.
