The Recent Surge in Online Business
Through these tough times, more people have been scared to go outside so they have restored to shopping using online business. have been using the online business or online stores. More than ever this business has been growing. By the second quarter of 2020 online business totaled $200.7 billion, which increased 37.0% from the start of 2020. So far, 69% of Americans have shopped online, and 25% of Americans shop online at least once per month.
Ashley Harvey, a Manteca resident, has a small business called Lilly’s Lights. She stated, “My sales have progressed by almost 50% mostly because more people are online and because the greater effort was put in on selling my lights.” Lucky for Ashley, COVID- 19 has not had a negative impact on her business, and she is still thriving during these times.
Jadin Krouti, a sophomore at Ripon High, has started her own small business with her sister called, A Gold Touch, where they sell earrings. Kroutil stated, “ I think that my business did pretty well in our pre-launch, but since we are a small business I think we will do okay when we actually launch our business in a couple of weeks but I need to work on reaching out to people other than Ripon, but it will be hard getting sales from out of our state.” She also thinks that being in school would be easier to sell her products because most of her earring are school spirited, so they could get the cheer team to wear her earrings, along with other students, hopefully allowing her business to grow.
Freshman Kailee Inderbitzin stated, “I think they are definitely doing a lot better and have progressed through these times.” Kailee has also bought from a few online stores to help out with their sales so their business can grow.
Throughout these tough times, consumers have bought from online business more than ever, making these online sales skyrocket. At this rate, it seems like 100% of our shopping could potentially be online. This offers more of a safe and efficient shopping experience during these unprecedented times.
