Must-Watch Shows: 2021 Edition
Television has become a ritual in the time of Covid. It can feel like every show out there has already been watched, leaving absolutely no good ones left. No need to worry, some students here at Ripon High have shared their picks for the top shows of 2021!
“Right now, I’m really into Gilmore Girls and Criminal Minds. I’d recommend these if you’re in need of a show that’ll last longer,” says sophomore Faith Fauchier.
Gilmore Girls is an entertaining, drama-filled show. It’s appropriate, meaning you can have it on while family is around. All 7 seasons are on Netflix, in addition to the sequel, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
“I love Criminal Minds because you can learn a lot about how to be safe when alone. It’s especially entertaining to me because I want to be a cop,” Fauchier continues.
Criminal Minds is a show about a group of investors that solve crimes. Season 15 of Criminal Minds premiered on Jan. 8, 2021. All 15 seasons are available on Netflix.
“I suggest watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. It’s a good comedy, and brings up many important topics,” says freshman Amaris Sanchez-Guerrero.
There are several new shows to watch, including WandaVision (highly recommended), Superman and Louis, and Cobra Kai: Season 3. WandaVision, a sitcom based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, premiered its first two episodes on Jan. 15 of this year. Every Friday, a new episode is released free on Disney Plus. It seems the characters Wanda and Vision live happily together. Except… Vision died in the 2018 film, Avengers: Infinity War. Each episode brings shocking discoveries as the secrets unfold.
Cobra Kai is a martial arts comedy-drama based on the original Karate Kid films. Season 3 was released at the beginning of the year. If you’re into a lot of action and comedy, this is for you.
Finally, we come to the newest edition, Superman and Louis. The first episode premiered this year on Feb. 23.
“I watched the first episode of Superman and Louis, and now I can’t wait to watch the show. It’s cool that they’re changing it up and featuring Superman as a family man,” exclaims Guerrero.
