3 Easy St. Patrick’s Day Treats

Kaitlyn Espinola, Journalist

St. Patrick’s day is a fun holiday celebrated by many. There’s good food, fun holiday activities, and of course the beloved leprechaun. What’s not to love? There are also many delicious holiday treats that are fun and easy to make. I will be ranking my three favorite St. Patrick’s Day treats and based on taste, looks, and how easy it is to make them.

The first treat I made was a batch of lucky charms rice krispie treats. It took me a total of one hour to make with the help of two other people. The ingredients called for 1 stick of butter, one bag of mini marshmallows, ½ tbsp of salt, and a box of Lucky Charms. The rice krispie treats turned out amazing! They were easy to make and prepare, and my whole family enjoyed them. I rank this recipe as #1.

Next, I tried a recipe for “green matcha popcorn”. This green treat only took six minutes to make! The recipe called for 1 tbsp of confectioner’s sugar, 2 tsp of matcha powder, and a bag of any popcorn. All I had to do was mix the ingredients in a bowl and sprinkle it over the popcorn. While this treat was by far the easiest to make, it was my least favorite. The matcha was a little too overpowering for my liking. I ranked this recipe #3.

The last recipe I made was for green velvet cake pops. This festive green treat took the longest to make and prepare. In all, it took a little over a day, only because I had to let the cake batter cool overnight. All you need for this recipe is a box of red velvet cake mix, green food dye, cream cheese frosting, and sprinkles. The cake pops were overall very easy to make and tasted delicious! I really enjoyed making this recipe and rank it #2.

I enjoyed finding and making these fun St. Patrick’s Day treats. It was a fun way to get myself and my family in the holiday spirit. Below I have listed the links to each recipe made in this article. Enjoy!
