Boys Volleyball has been a recently fast-growing sport in the United States. High schools all around California have newly granted Boys Volleyball as a sport. Around 80,000 boys play high school volleyball, but would it be worth playing Boys Volleyball for Ripon High?

Volleyball can be very beneficial for your overall physical health. Volleyball has a lot of movement during each and every rally, so the strength, stamina, and flexibility of a starter will most definitely be increased for the better of both a starter’s performance and health.

Volleyball can also help grow social skills.

Ripon High sophomore, Alex Alvarellos, says, “You can’t play volleyball alone. You need six players to play the sport, so if you don’t have your whole team cooperating and all working together, then it’s not going to work out.”

Players have to communicate with one another to make most plays work, and that allows a shy student that lacks those social skills to utilize them and become a team player.

High school volleyball can be a start to a student’s future career, as well. Students will never know they enjoy the sport unless they give it a try.

Senior, Johnny Rey, states, “Just try it out, get a group of friends, because I never even had a thought of [playing] volleyball, but sophomore year I just decided to switch over with my friends, we all loved it, and we’re still playing it to this day.”

There’s no disadvantage to playing volleyball, so why not try out for Ripon High’s Boys Volleyball team?
