Warriors OT Results in Loss

On Saturday, February 4, the Sacramento Kings and The Golden State Warriors played a fierce, eventful game in Sacramento. The (20-31) Kings went up against the (43-8) Warriors and fought a hard, long battle and eventually came out on top.

The game was a nail-biter the whole time, and at the half, the two teams were tied at 56. The Kings took the lead in the middle of the 3rd quarter when forward, Kevon Looney, was called for a rebounding foul. The call was questionable, and forward, Draymond Green, argued the call, and got a technical.

Furious over the call, coach Steve Kerr went on  the court and started yelling at referee, Bill Spooner. Spooner ejected Kerr and stormed to the locker room.

“I was mad about a lot of things,” Kerr said. “But I got what I deserved. I deserved to be ejected. So I have no complaints.”

After the ejection, the Warriors came back with several 3 pointers to take back their lead.

In the fourth quarter, the lead went back and forth, but the teams ended up tieing, sending them to overtime.

In overtime, much like in regulation, the lead went back and forth until the last few seconds. The Warriors had the chance to send it into double overtime, but a 3 point shot by Draymond Green just barely missed it. “It was one of the worst games we played all season. We had no purpose. The ball didn’t move. I didn’t even recognize our team out there tonight. Maybe we were due for one.”

The Kings defeated the Warriors 109-106 in overtime. The Kings will go on to play the Chicago Bulls on Monday, February 6. As for the Warriors, they will go to play the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, February 8.
