Historically, Ripon High School has always been highly accredited for their athleticism and overall student body involvement in sports. This praise has yet to cease towards any sport, especially soccer this season. The Ripon High School Boys Varsity Soccer team has won nearly all of their games since the beginning of the season. The dedication of the players has led the Ripon Indians to victory on four separate occasions this year, and they don’t plan on stopping.
Among the team, senior Alejandro Prieto, who plays center defensive middle and right back, feels optimistic about the season and future games.
Prieto says, “This season is going well. I think we have a lot of potential so I am glad to see our team having success so early in the season. I think we are going to do great things.”
The scores of this season’s games add a backbone to Prieto’s insight, with Ripon’s most recent match scores 2-0, illustrating the win for Ripon against Bret Harte High School on Dec. 3.
Senior Richard Lagenfeld has been playing soccer since he was three years old and plans to continue playing soccer in college. Langefeld hopes to see new victories and has big aspirations for the team this year.
“I want to make the playoffs,” states Langenfield. “I want to win a league game because we haven’t in ten years.”
The commitment and hard work displayed by players on the Boys Varsity Soccer team assure Langenfelds dreams to be possible this season. The student body and faculty of Ripon High School are excited to see the development of the soccer team throughout the season and anticipate many more wins for the Boys Varsity Soccer team in the future.
