In 1991, a NCAA game of Creighton vs. Utah lasted 31 innings, 186 outs, 43 hits, and over 600 pitches, making it one of the longest softball games in history. In 2026, on April 14, a softball game of Ripon HIgh vs Orestimba lasted 9 innings, and resulted in Ripon High taking the victory. This game was a true nailbitter with the final score being 2-1, and since Ripon High was playing on home turf the crowd was especially invested.

Angie Martinez, a senior at RiponHigh, was able to score the final point Ripon High needed with a walk-off home run in the 9th inning ending the game! Martinez states, “My last time at bat [was challenging during the game] because it was two outs and was the ninth inning, and I had already pitched nine innings and didn’t want to go for the tenth. So I just told myself ‘okay, hit the ball really hard’”.
Ripon High Softball has played an exceptionally great season, and the game versus Orestimba confirmed what the rest of Ripon High already knew. Make sure to not miss the next RHS Softball game!
