On Friday, April 17, 2026, Ripon High School competed in the TVL Finals swimming and diving meet against Hilmar, Sonora, Ripon Christian, and Orestimba. The meet, held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., brought intense competition as teams pushed through the final event of the season.
Although Hilmar High School took first place in both the girls’ and boys’ divisions, Ripon High showed determination and consistency, earning third place overall in both categories. Facing some of the strongest teams in the league, Ripon athletes continued to compete hard in every event and kept themselves in the top rankings.
In the girls’ division, Ripon placed third behind Hilmar and Sonora, finishing ahead of Ripon Christian and Orestimba. The boys’ team matched that effort, also securing third place and showing depth across multiple events.
“My favorite moment was the last relay, we beat the other team by about 0.2 seconds, and that felt really good,” said Boun West, a sophomore on the boys swim team. “I feel accomplished. I got to where I wanted to be, and it showed that all my hard work actually meant something.”
Throughout the meet, Ripon swimmers demonstrated teamwork and resilience, staying competitive even against higher-ranked teams. While the final standings didn’t put them at the top, their performance reflected the effort and progress they’ve made throughout the season.
Matthew Lee, a senior, states, “If I could go back, I’d probably just focus more in practice and spend more time in the pool. There’s not really a specific drill, just more practice overall.”
As the season wraps up, Ripon High leaves the TVL Finals with something solid to build on next year.
