On March 17, 2026, the Ripon High School varsity tennis team played a match against Ripon Christian School from 3:30 to 6:30. Both boys’ and girls’ teams competed, and it ended up being a long and challenging match. Even though everyone tried their best, Ripon High lost 7–2.
From the beginning, both teams showed strong effort and focus. Each match was played with intensity, as players tried to win points through rallies, serves, and quick movements across the court. Even though the opposing team gained an early lead, the Ripon varsity team continued to push themselves, staying determined throughout the entire match.
Both boys doubles teams were able to secure a win, contributing to the final score of 2-7. A senior, Emilio Machado Perez, confidently says, “I usually walk into a match unsure if I’m going to win, but I walk out confident that I gave my best and earned the victory.” Players were communicating while making sure to encourage one another, which helped them through some of the tougher moments. Even when points were lost, people stayed positive and kept trying their best on the court. Another senior from the varsity tennis, Maxwell Ferral states, “After losing RC twice the year before, we came into this match wanting revenge. I walked in with a lot of confidence and knew we had a chance to win.”

Overall, it wasn’t the result we wanted, but the team didn’t give up and kept trying until the end. This match showed effort, teamwork, and areas we can improve on. Hopefully, in the next matches, the team can come back stronger and get a better result!
